Sequel 2.5 brings thoughtful upgrades that make tracking and enjoying media even easier. With revamped collections, quick access to external sources, smarter episode notifications and more, this update gives you more control over how you stay on top of everything you watch, read, or play.
Unified Collections: One Place to Hold Them All
Collections can now include movies, series, games, and books together. Whether you're organizing every entry in the Star Wars franchise or curating a list of personal favorites, it's easier than ever to bring it all together. The editor has also been redesigned to make building your collections quicker and more intuitive.
Layout Options That Fit Your Needs
Collections are more flexible thanks to new layout and sorting options. Choose from list, grid, or the all-new Ranked List layout—ideal for everything from a sleek watchlist to a carefully curated Top 50. Handy extras like "Hide Completed" help keep your backlogs and to-watch lists tidy by automatically hiding finished items, so you can focus on what's next.
Open in Your Favorite Sources
The new "Open In" feature lets you quickly jump from any media item straight into trusted sources like IMDb, Metacritic, Audible, Goodreads, and more. It’s a fast way to read reviews, get more details, or buy a book. Sequel will open links directly in their corresponding app if possible or a handy in-app browser otherwise.
Smarter Episode Notifications, with a Personal Touch
You now have more control over episode notifications. Get a heads-up the moment a new one drops, or just for season premieres and finales—whatever suits your watching habits. A unique option can even limit notifications to series you're caught up on. It's a thoughtful way to stay focused on series you're actively watching.
Lightning-Fast Sync and Built-In Backups
Sequel’s sync engine has been rebuilt from the ground up and is now up to 240 times faster—yes, really. New automated backups quietly keep your library safe in the background, giving you peace of mind without lifting a finger.
Smaller Touches, Big Difference
Sequel 2.5 also adds a few small but useful touches that make the app even more helpful day to day. Movies now indicate if there are bonus scenes during or after the credits. Actor filmographies now show the year they actually joined a series, not just when it premiered—especially helpful for long-running shows. Across the app, you’ll also notice visual refinements that make everything feel that much cleaner. Read more below.
